The sun began to set on the flourishing city and street lights slowly grew brighter. A girl panted as she ran through an alleyway. Her heart's beat pounded in her head with quickening pace. She turned onto a main road that was already empty. Panic and fear filled her mind and her legs were screaming with pain. She gathered up what breath she had left to shout.

"Somebody, help me!"

"In this city, Arcvenia, everyone's given a fair chance to succeed or fail and, if you plan on succeeding, you'll listen in this class. What we'll be learning about here is the history of Arcvenia or what's known, at least," the teacher said to her students. "Many of you understand how advanced we are and the technology we have, but don't let me catch you using any device in this classroom."

The class groaned and a girl plopped her head on her desk. Her fair blonde hair was half tied in a small ponytail and the rest settled just beneath her shoulders. The girl's bright brown eyes slowly closed, letting her mind escape within itself for a moment. She wore a light red skirt and top with dark red lines across it and her white socks had small frills on the ends. Her black dress shoes shined in the light from the window. She jumped up when her friend called out to her.

"Amaia!" The other girl giggled. "Don't go dozing off on the first day back from winter vacation!"

"Oh, I'm sorry," she yawned. "I just can't help, but wish vacation was a small bit longer."

"Haha! Same with the rest of the class!" The girl pat her back. "Hey, where are you headed after school? Maybe, we can hang out!"

"I have to run some errands for my mom," Amaia shook her head. "Sorry."

"Aw, that's no fun. I was hoping we could catch up. We haven't talked for a whole week!" She complained.

"Well, I better get going. I have to finish before dark or mom will be upset with me," Amaia gathered her bag and stood up.

"Oh, okay. Good luck with that," the girl sunk down in her own seat.

She walked down the street as sunset struck. One hand held two bags; her school bag and a plastic bag filled with different foods and drinks, and the other hand held a list of supplies that her eyes scanned over.

"Looks like I got everything," she glanced at the sky. "Just in time, too."

Amaia continued down the street. On a nearby building, a sniper aimed his gun at her head, adjusting it every time she moved. A bullet flew out of its barrel and just barely missed her head. She gasped and fell to the ground. Her eyes scanned the area until they found the man that was lowering a rope. The girl was frozen when she noticed the gun on his back as he climbed down the rope.

"S-Stay away!" She weakly shouted, crawling backwards.

The sniper grew closer and closer until she fumbled to her feet and started running. He followed after her, slowly gaining speed. When she turned into an alleyway, he did as well. There was no way she could shake him. Amaia turned onto one of the main roads that was empty by now.

She sucked in her breath before shouting, "Somebody, help me!"

A sound came from somewhere nearby, like a can being kicked over. Amaia looked over where it came from, hoping to see a savior when she tripped over a raised piece of cement. She turned over to see the sniper turning toward her, readying his gun.

"You have the power so, create what can save you!" A male voice came from the shadows.

"W-What? How?" She questioned, backing away into a street light's base.

"There's no time to explain! Just do it!" The voice snapped.

She closed her eyes tightly as tears started in the corner of her eyes. The snipper fired the gun off, once more.
This is chapter one of Mitlux! The title and the name of the city will be explained, of course. I do realize this chapter seems incredibly fast-paced, which bothers me, but it'd get too boring if I tried to drag it out. I hope you like it!

The storyline and characters belong to me.

~That's all for now!! See ya!!~

I liked it. It is a really interesting concept you have here. While I can't tell much from the fist chapter, it sounds like its going to be a very interesting read. it was well written and you made it captivating as well. Looking forward to the rest of it. Keep up the good work.
